about kate

Welcome friends!

unnamed (1)

My name is Kate and I am a wife / since-birth South Carolinian / graduate student / Christian / public health graduate (BS) / personal chef to my husband /  and future registered dietitian.

This blog began in May 2014 after I graduated from undergrad and married my husband, as a way to document life as a newly wed. It’s become a free-for-all for me, because I find writing on a single topic to be too cumbersome and limiting. So on this blog you’ll read about my life as a wife, recipes I’ve tried and developed, adventures I’ve taken, my recovery from anorexia/depression, books I’ve read, and whatever else I have on my heart to share.

Being a Christ-follower is the most important aspect of my life. It shapes who I am and how I live. Discovering my identity in Christ has given me a freedom I’ve never felt before. Terry is a youth pastor, so a lot of our time is dedicated to our church and seeing our students grow.

I love spending time in the outdoors, especially when the weather is warm. Taking day trips to state parks is one of my favorite things to do.

I love to cook and bake. Trying new recipes and testing things out in the kitchen is a hobby that I find very relaxing. Working out is another way to relax for me- it’s helps to manage stress and keeps me feeling strong and energetic.

I am currently in the midst of obtaining a masters degree in nutrition and becoming a registered dietitian. It is my desire to see people embrace real food and discover a healthy life.

I hope you enjoy this blog about me and my little family. For more insight, you can check out the posts under favorites. I’m looking forward to connecting with you!

    1. Thank you! I am so glad you found me- I look forward to reading your blog. How cool that you are doing social work! I always say that would have been my second career choice!

  1. Just came across your blog, and stopping by to say hi! We’re on the same boat! I just graduated with a nutrition degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. I’m starting my graduate school to become a RD too! 🙂

  2. Hi Kate. Nice to meet you. Congratulations on your nomination from Steph for the Liebster Award. I look forward to visiting your blog, it really looks lovely. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

  3. I am curious if you have studied or might have information on hypothalamic pituitary axis disfunction? I couldn’t find an email address for you to message you about this directly…

    1. Thank you for pointing out that I need to add my emails- whoops.
The hypothalamus pituitary axis is involved in a lot of different body processes. A quick search on the topic you mention among scholarly articles didn’t turn up much, I saw a few about cancer Do you mind emailing me with more details on the angle you are coining for on? 🙂
